The student at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown Heights was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 10, after a case of "aggravated harassment," was assigned to the school resource officer to investigate, said the Yorktown Police.
An investigation into the incident, which took place on Tuesday, Oct. 8, found that the student allegedly hit another student while calling him a racial slur, police said.
The student was charged with juvenile delinquency, the same as an adult charge of harassment, and issued an appearance ticket in the presence of his parent, police said.
The boy is scheduled to appear at the Westchester County Department of Probation on Thursday, Oct. 24.
